Connecting and setting up a Vizio Smart TV is the first step to enjoying high-quality entertainment at home. With the intuitive interface and features of the Vizio TV Setup, you will have an easy and efficient way to access and connect to your favorite entertainment content. The following is a guide to the steps for connecting, setting up, and streaming on the Vizio Smart TV.
Unboxing and Setting Up The Vizio TV
Carefully open your Vizio TV box, identifying the remote control, batteries, power cable, and owner's manual, among other components. You will also need to determine a location for your new television with adequate ventilation and support. If you will be wall-mounting your television, carefully follow the instructions provided by the manufacturer to securely attach the stand, ensuring that the television is level and secure. Connect the power cable to the back of the television, then plug the other end into the wall outlet.
Powering On and Configuring Your Vizio TV
Once you have connected the power, you can turn on the television by either pressing the power button on the remote or on the television. The Vizio TV Setup will guide you through the initial setup process; first, you will need to select the language that you prefer, then select your country or region from the list of available countries or regions. This information is necessary for scanning for channels in your area so that you can see what is available at the time you try to connect.
Internet Access and Connectivity
To use smart features and streaming applications, you must connect to the Internet. To do this, open up your Network Settings menu and select either a Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection type. If you choose to connect via Wi-Fi, just locate your home Wi-Fi network from the list, then enter the corresponding password exactly as it appears. An Ethernet connection will generally provide a more stable internet connection than Wi-Fi — simply plug an Ethernet cable into either the router or the TV to establish the Ethernet connection (the TV will automatically validate the connection, as well as download and install any available updates for the firmware).
To Create or Sign into a Vizio Account
To use the full functionality of Vizio SmartCast, you need to create a Vizio account; you can do this using your smartphone's Vizio mobile app or directly from your TV. Enter your email address and choose a strong password to create a Vizio account that allows for personalized recommendations, controlling streaming applications, and controlling your TV remotely using SmartCast mobile.
Display Settings Configuration
Maximize your multimedia experience with display settings customization. Choose from several preset display modes (Standard, Vivid, Game, and Calibrated), and adjust various components of the image quality (brightness, contrast, color saturation, and sharpness) according to personal preference and conditions such as light levels in the room. If you plan on streaming content with High Dynamic Range (HDR), be sure to enable HDR functions for optimal performance.
Installing Streaming Apps
The Vizio Smart TV is already equipped with several streaming service applications, including Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, Prime Video, and YouTube. To access the SmartCast Home screen on your television, press the V (for Vizio) button or Home button on the remote control to open up a menu of choices for the various applications available. You may want to explore the app list to see what other applications are available, and you'll have the option to sign up for new subscriptions and use those credentials to log into each application after installing the application onto the television. There is also an application store where other applications can be downloaded to personalize your entertainment experience.
Connecting External Devices
In addition to using your Vizio Smart TV to stream content, many people use external devices connected to the television to enhance the entertainment experience, such as video game consoles, Blu-ray players, and sound bars (for surround sound). Most external devices can connect to your Vizio television through either the HDMI port located on the back or side of the television, enabling you to connect to a higher-quality video and audio experience. You may also want to connect your cable/satellite box using the HDMI port if one is being used; also, for a better sound quality option, you may want to consider connecting your sound bar with the HDMI ARC or optical audio connector.
Start Streaming
Once everything is set up, you can begin streaming your entertainment content! You may choose either Quick TV Device or a streaming application you have installed on the Vizio Smart TV, or select a streaming app you've downloaded that has content matched to what you already like. Enjoy the benefits of Ultra HD picture quality and vibrant colors while you explore all the different types of content! Enjoy your streaming!
